Tax

Tax law is not practiced in isolation, but is often adjunct to other legal services provided to clients. Related services include:

  • Estate planning and probate matters, including wills, trusts, family business enterprises, retirement plans, insurance beneficiary designations, marital agreements and estate planning tools
  • Business transactions such as the selection, formation and structuring of business entities — corporations, professional associations, limited and general partnerships, limited liability partnerships, limited liability companies — to help ensure the best federal income tax and state franchise tax structures
  • Tax-exempt organizations (e.g., public charities, private foundations and trade associations) to secure and maintain exempt status, as well as other operational aspects affecting tax-exempt organizations including self-dealing, private inurement and unrelated business tax issues
  • Retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, plan administration and governmental reporting under ERISA, COBRA and other federal and state laws
  • IRS audits and the examination of returns
